Feature description

How the flash light works

If you are not getting proper results, it might be too dark in your surroundings. You can now switch on the flash light by tapping the “Toggle Torch” button when Text Detective is scanning. The “Toggle Torch button is located right below the “Cancel” button in the top left corner of the screen. Note: the flashlight resets to “off” as soon as text is found. Enabled the flash at the beginning of each scan!

How to delete the entire history

You’ll now be able to delete the history of your scans all at once. Here are the steps:

  • Go to the History tab
  • Tap the “Clear” button in the top left corner of the screen (in VoiceOver it is the first button after activating the History tab
  • Alert window will pop up. Confirm delete by tapping “Erase All” or “Cancel” to abort

Note: once you select “Erase All” the results history cannot be restored!

Rate our app

You can now rate Text Detective right from your iPhone. Once you start Text Detective an alert “Rate TextDetective” will show up. You can select to rate it, to be reminded later or to not rate it.

Volunteers for iPad Magnifier Testing *

Help build a new electronic magnifier experience with your iPad! We’re seeking low vision users of magnifiers and iPads to comment on and test new and innovative ways to magnify text and other objects.

Location

Downtown Berkeley

What we do

Blindsight is an early stage R&D company focused on developing products and services for blind, low-vision and actively aging individuals. We are in the process of building a new and innovative iPad app focused on helping low-vision individuals be able to magnify text and other objects while on the go.

What it involves

The first step is for us to learn about your iPad and stationary magnifier usage habits through an “exploration” interview. If you choose to continue on with the process, the second step will involve a session where we will have mock-ups for testing, and the final step will involve distributing prototypes for you to test and play with in your daily environment. We will provide a small stipend for your effort.

The requirements

You should be a low-vision individual who is a regular iPad user and has at some point used a stationary magnifier.

Interested? Just send a quick summary of you with a description of why you’d like to take part on the pilot study to volunteers@blindsight.com and we’d love to talk to you!
